All women MPs should understand that women's work is just as important and valuable as men's. If every woman in parliament signed the pledge, we could rely on parliament to uphold paying work fairly, no matter who's doing the job. The pledge was also open to male MPs who wanted to stand up for equality.
So far, 45 MPs across 6 political parties have signed the pledge, showing that some things are bigger than politics! We hope we can rely on these MPs to work together to finally end gender-discrimination of pay in New Zealand, 40 long years after our law made it illegal.
